October is National Cyber Security Month. The National Cyber Security Alliance has dedicated a theme to each week of the month. This week’s theme is “Make Your Home a Haven for Online Safety.”
This week, consider internet safety tips to teach not only your children, but also your parents.
*Remind them that the IRS, Medicare/Medicaid, and other government agencies do not made calls unsolicited.
*Microsoft does not call to say your computer has a virus, and they shouldn’t click on a pop-up.
*Show them, for example, to look for the padlock symbol on a site to ensure it’s safety.
*Keep advised on the latest internet scams and share them with elderly relatives.
*Explain what a phishing email is to them.
